The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international organization supporting children and youth with disabilities or exceptional gifts and talents. CEC advocates for policies, sets professional standards, and provides resources and professional development for special educators. It operates local units in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and student chapters at many colleges and universities. CEC also offers 18 specialized divisions for focused interests or exceptionalities.
CEC is offering free membership and student insurance for Clinical Interns and C1 students (not limited to those pursuing TOSD certification). Benefits include:

A community of practice (CoP) is a group of people who share a common interest in something they do, meet regularly, and seek to improve their practice. The goal of the CoP is to bring New Jersey public school personnel into a working relationship around a common interest in working with students with disabilities.
