The process of obtaining your substitute certification includes multiple steps.
Your fingerprinting and criminal history record check are the first step in obtaining your sub cert.
To complete the fingerprints and criminal history record check, please review and follow the tutorials below.
Once you have your criminal history record check document you will need to upload into your account at NJedCERT.
Go to the NJedCERT website at this link. https://njdoe.my.site.com/manage/s/ Create an account. This account will be used for your sub cert as well as all your final teaching certification.
Once you have your account, you will need to upload your criminal history record check (background check) and have Kean University send them official transcripts.
Your transcripts can be obtained at this link. https://www.kean.edu/offices/registrars-office/transcript-request Once at this link, click National Student Clearninghouse.
Once all documents are uploaded to your account at NJedCert, you will need to check back there frequently to see if your sub cert is approved and active. Once available, please send a PDF copy to coepo@kean.edu.
